With clearing skies in the morning,it looked promising here in the Canaries, however slowly the weather began to turn. By the time we took over for the 2000-2400 watch it was, how shall I say, challenging. Pitching and rolling and healing. Did I mention the rolling…70 degrees side to side.

Shortly afterwards we had the main course, main lower and upper topsails, the fore course, fore lower topsail, main staysail and inner and outer jibs set. We sailed along at 5.5 knots in brilliant sunshine.

Off the bow whilst anchored recently we have seen turtles, sting rays, trumpeter fish and a mermaid (well not quite) all so very amazing to see right next to you apposed to just seeing on the television. The mood on ship is very relaxed today, lunch has just been eaten and the bronzed gods are on the stern with their shirts off, the goddesses are on the bow reading their books and I am on watch till 4 o'clock, not such a biggy when in such a gorgeous place...

A day of squalls and sun following a brilliant sail from Dominica. En route we were passed by the Maltese Falcon, a high-tech square rig three masted ship, 88m long. Today's squalls did not deter the swimming from the ship while anchored at Terre-De-Haut, Les Saintes, nor the evening Barbeque onboard Tenacious.
