We departed St Malo on a baking afternoon, watching a flotilla of traditional and replica sailing vessels coming through the lock gates into the inner harbour before we could leave.

Today was the first full day of our voyage around the Hebridean Islands and what an eventful one it’s been! Phillipa was kept busy first thing with mess duty and serving breakfasts for all crew on board.

Hello all ashore !
We have had a great week, and are only sorry that the signals here are so sketchy that we haven’t been able to tell you much. The scenery is stunning, and the weather has been kind mainly…….. full oilies have put in an appearance but everyone looks tanned to go home tomorrow.

Tenacious left Poole Harbour yesterday and sailed over to Swanage Bay, where we dropped anchor and enjoyed a balmy evening, with rope and climbing training whilst others enjoyed mucking in with the mess duty preparing for dinner.

We left Oban after an overnight stay and costomary preparations a nd thorough happy hour and set out for Colonsay. No sailing today for lack of convenient wind.

Everyone went into the town to have their lunch and retail therapy. 4 of us stayed on board for our lunch, some stayed out for dinner at a local restaurant, a good time was had by all.

This morning we departed from the Calmac Quay at Tobermory at 10.05 and headed out into the Sound of Mull. Before departure a bagpiper was playing on the quayside.

Weighed anchor at 7.30am we were anchored about half way up the west coast of Jura having passed through the narrow straights between Islay and Jura the day before.

Woke up this morning swaying! Getting used to it now tho, still nearly fell on my face putting my trousers on J breakfast first always a laugh with phillip and his stories… although he does digress!

Iain, 6 ft 8 inches, started off in bunk 3 but has gradually spread out to occupy bunks 4 & 5 as well. The knock-on effects of this are being felt all along the starboard side of the ship with those in the aft berths having to bunk up in the bar.

As a recycled teenage old aged pensioner in her second childhood I decided I wanted to have a last fling before it was too late: this led me to signing up for a life time trip on the Tall Ship Nellie (Lord Nelson to give it her rightful name), sailing from Falmouth to Oban.

After anchoring near the needles for the night we got underway this morning at approx 10.00 and met the pilot who guided us into Southampton where on route we has smunch (Smoko and Lunch) which was provided by our healthy cook Ali.
