From The Lovely Watch Another nocturnal note: we are sometimes awake during the day as well. The ship has been unexpectedly quiet since before midnight…undoubtedly the effects of eating and drinking too well on Christmas day.

24th Dec Christmas Eve Well…..you just would not believe it is Christmas Eve!!.........sitting on board, listening to Christmas carols (in cool 40 degrees) anchored in bay on Islha de Grange, after a morning swim off Lord Nelson-water temp 27 degrees….sooo nice-tho, some quite peculiarly spectacular ideas of diving going on-not least by our Brazilian contingency, especially Jefferson’s filmed banshee impression…..awesome!!

Friday, 14th December. Hello there back in chilly ol' Blighty. It remains well over 30 degrees here in Rio, irrespective of whether it's sunny, cloudy or in the middle of a spectacular thunderstorm, as now. It seems slightly incongruous to be opening an advent calendar in these temperatures.

Day 52 9th Dec Arrival in Rio.. Southampton to Rio – tick. We had a Scottish west coast welcome to Rio from the weather this morning – fog & a little drizzle – so we still haven’t seen the Cristos Redemptor Statue. We don’t believe it exists. It’s an elaborate Photoshop plot.

Day 50 7th Dec Sadly and with some mixed feelings this will be the final blog from Aft Port.
