The Fat Face Foundation, the charitable arm of the clothing company Fat Face, has sponsored a new sail each for Lord Nelson and Tenacious which are the only tall ships in the world designed to be sailed by mixed crews of able-bodied and disabled people including wheelchair users.

The tall ship Tenacious, which was designed and built to be sailed by a mixed crew of able-bodied and disabled people including wheelchair users, will take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 3rd June to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Overnight the skies had cleared and we woke to bright clear sunshine, a fresh NE breeze and the news that the "Row2Recovery" a UK team of Trans-Atlantic Rowers including three disabled ex-Servicemen were only a few hours ahead of us.

Little Britain Challenge Cup celebrates its Silver (25th) Anniversary in 2012. LBCC is a valued supporter of the Jubilee Sailing Trust, and on 19th January, they presented JST with a large cheque, a share of the proceeds of last year’s regatta.

JST Watchleader Peter Cardy's life was changed by a Tall Ships Race when he was 15 and now he has recently been appointed CEO of Sail Training International - the charity that organises The Tall Ships Races. He brings with him a wealth of experience of sail training and working with disabled people. He shares his story in this interview.

The sun has been shining on Lord Nelson in the Canaries where the voyage crews have been enjoying swimming, sing-songs and barbecues. The voyage crew of LN802, in their owns words ‘feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of the experience and the immense work of the charity’, decided to do some fundraising and raised an astonishing £400 – for a haircut!

Last year we celebrated Lord Nelson’s 25th anniversary – this month we celebrate Don Goode’s 80th birthday. Don has sailed with the JST every year since Lord Nelson’s launch - he has not missed a single year. He has sailed with the JST so many times that when he goes onboard he says it is like going home…and someone always says ‘Hello Don, how nice to see you’.

Congratulations to 17 year old Hannah Concannon who has won Jubilee Sailing Trust's prestigious Leadership @ Sea award. Hannah's beautifully presented report with thoughtful prose and stunning photographs is a deserving winner for this award that recognises progress in developing leadership skills.

"Skydiving - to many a dream come true, to me, my worst nightmare. Nevertheless, I have somehow agreed to hurl myself out of an airplane at 13,000 feet, strapped to a "hunky" (???) Red Devil".
