'Strayalia' day yesterday was celebrated with a Milford/Wales vs Aussie Port side mid ship cricket match. excellent stumps made by Seb and a collective effort for the ball (on a string) the rules were: 4 to hit the ball into the sailor strainers, 6 over the side 1 per run, -100 if ANYTHING broken.

Weather is still getting warmer and we have no favourable wind. At 8:15 last night we crossed the Greenwich meridian and were now in the easten hemisphere and on-route to cape town.

After a rather wet night with a lot of sail setting for all watches we woke up to a dry morning. Although we are still pitching and rolling slightly there is the occasional outbreak of sunshine to brighten the weather beaten souls.

The early hours of the morning of 23rd January we had an amazing electric storm with sheet lightening creating a well illuminated sky. The sailing was good as we made our approach towards the island of Sardinia.

Motoring along at extra full, steering 160 towards an Island called Tristan Du Cuhna. we are due there in the next few hours - not to land, not to stay but to buy postcards and get our Passports stamped and to say a sad farewell to a crew member.

Yesterday evening we were continuing on our long held course of 110 towards Cape town. The wind is northerly but of no great strength so sails were handed in the evening after supper.

This morning after the morning meeting all square sail was set bar the main course. At 11.50, the wind having freshened to a north easterly force 5, the engines were switched off so at last we are really sailing. We have a blue sea with small white caps; heeled over to starboard with a gentle pitching.

FWD STARBOARD 1st Mate Ali called for more sail at 8pm. Working with a new team, who didn't know their gaskings from their gaskets and thought a bunting was a little bird in a hedge! We put the sails up briskly - safe to say Ali was impressed.

17th January 2013 Hello world :) cadet lauren is extremely happy today on watch as she has managed to finally have more then 3 hours kip. We are plodding along at 7knots, the wind is a steady force 3.The sea is a deep royal blue, the sun is shining and seb hasnt stopped polishing the brass work.

We’re sitting anchored just off the island of Ibiza, after a 24 hour sail from Valencia. There was a small bit of excitement after we first departed Valencia; we spotted a line of buoys in the water and had to send the DOTI boat out to go check to see if there were fishing nets attached.

This is our second night at sea after staying in Palma to ‘ring in’ the new year. We are heading towards Valencia and had a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the weather initially it was a bit choppy wind force 4/5 and most of our watch felt seasick. Then it was sunny and people were sunbathing on deck.

Eve of New Year 2013. We finally find ourselves leaving the submarine base as Ihla de Mocangue. In best Brazilian fashion the pilot arrived 15 mins late but we were finally underway, not to Cape town but at least away from the dockside.

Not much sems to have happened since Boxing Day. We got back to our berth in the submarine base on the 27th, most of the voyage crew left, the port side rubbing strake got slightly mangled due to the force five afternoon breeze pushing us against a block of concrete, the dead dog having gone on strike. Once the wind died down, all was secured.
