WE SPENT LAST NIGHT AT ANCHOR IN STUDLAND BAY, SNUGLY RIDING OUT A STRONG SOUTH WESTERLY WIND. AT 0900 WE WEIGHED ANCHOR, DELAYING SLIGHTLY FOR A CABLE CAUGHT ON THE ANCHOR CHAIN, AND THEN SET COURSE FOR CHERBOURG. WE ARE NOW ABOUT HALF WAY THERE, HAVING CROSSED THE MAIN SHIPPING LANE, ANDWE EXPECT TO ANCHOR IN CHERBOURG OUTER HARBOUR THIS EVENING. WEATHER IS TYPICAL OCTOBER ! SOME SUN,SOME RAIN,SOME WIND SOME DRIZZEL AND WE ARE SAILING UNDER MIZZEN STAYSAIL, MAIN TOPSAIL, FORE COURSE, FORE UPPER AND LOWER AND FORE TGALLANT.
