10/03/2013 - Tenacious

Dated: 15/03/2013

Another beautiful day! Sun streaming through the port holes and sailing under both Lower Topsails and Outer Jib. Wonderful sight!
Forward Starboard WATCH on duty 12.30 - 16.00 hours. Following Ben's talk on the weather - true to form it deteriorated when he was Officer of the Watch! We were sent below for our wet weather gear - just in time! Storm clouds massed on Port side and thunder and lightning soon appeared only 18 miles away and closing fast! Soon we were all drenched - but "Happy Bunnies". Visibility deteriorated so we all kept our eyes skinned for other ships. All of us pretty soaked - but oilies took the brunt! The wind died and all sails were furled with joint Watch Teams. This was followed by a magnificent Mothering Sunday Dinner - Hammay's Roast Beef & Yorkshire puds, roast spuds, cabbage, carrots and horseradish sauce, followed by Sherry Trifle. Wonderful! Sails down, and on engines through the night in order to catch up time. Midnight till 4.00 hrs beautiful starry night, mild and very pleasant. Passing through the Corsican Channel with bright lights on our port side, many light houses and navigation points.

FS WATCH Andrew, Liz, Jot, Louise, Tony, Keith, Michael & Ivor xxxxxxxx
