25/12/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 25/12/2012

Christmas Morning and we awoke to the beautiful island of Ilha Grande anchored off Abraao town. Cookie started the day off with Salmon and scrambled eggs and then it was boat in the water and off ashore for the voyage crew and some PC.. (what I hear regular readers say no happiness, I must be getting soft as I thought the ship was happy already and we could skip Christmas day) Ashore they were met by an amazing low key village that was more or less devoted to tourism, small shops and café’s mostly open ( what at at 1030am on xmas day) that’s strange, until you looked back out into the bay and just pulling in was a large COSTA liner.. There goes the neighbourhood, so our guys fanned out quickly to grab the best bits on the beach etc.

Whilst the cat was away (no I don’t mean you Barbara) the remaining 7 left on board decided a swim was in order, I thought that’s much to energetic for Christmas morning so continued with my new sport of life vest bobbing (wear a life vest and bob about) bliss…. Cool water, well about 21 anyway, almost chilly when you realise the temp outside was a mere 39.5.. Anyway all must come to an end , the table has to be laid, cookie Derek has a turkey to stuff etc etc. The VC started to arrive back aboard from about 3pm, and eventually all were back aboard for Christmas Dinner at 1830 followed by much chat and wine guzzling. What an amazing day in a beautiful location.
