Back to the ship update blog

Day 10 28th Oct
It was our watches turn to use the washing machine today, great news all clean clothes again! At morning 'smoko’ we had a marvellous cake decorated with an icing sugar commando knife in celebration of the 348th birthday of the Royal Marine Corps. The rumour mill has it that we may also celebrate it with a snifter of port later. Weather warmer by the day – today its 18C air temp on deck & 18C sea temp! The big swell last night made for hairy helming though. Some of us went aloft yesterday afternoon in beautiful sunshine, but had to time the ascent up the ratlines’ to the pitching of the ship! It was so peaceful just sitting there and eating chocolate on the crosstrees. A much calmer wind today, SE Force 4, and another empty horizon for the third day. There was a church service held on deck this morning, which was quite well attended
An update on our stowaways…. There has now been 8 different species of migrating birds recorded hitching a ride south.
