Yesterday we had a quiet afternoon on the ship followed by a knot tying workshop hosted by Kevin with the help of two old salts Richard and David.

As the weather turned Paul and Farren decided to cast a fishing line out and managed to catch 3 flathead with 2 being for the skipper’s birthday dinner.

In the evening we had a quiz night in the bar organised by Alice and Rob. The teams were organised by watches. Aft Starboard won the night by half a point.

In the morning, the sun was shining so we decided to cast another line out before we had breakfast and managed to catch a 2 foot shark but it managed to break the line and get away!

Captain Barbara gave instructions that we were to sail off the anchor out of wineglass bay which we managed despite very light winds.

After smoko, we had happy hour below deck and were soon enough called for early lunch before we started our watch at 12:30pm.

The wind changed direction and so the sails went up and we are now motoring north. The eastern Tasmanian coast is spectacular. We’ve seen an albatross, some dolphins and are still on the lookout for our first whales.

The bridge is now beaming as we have brasso’d everything in sight.

Mrs Romeril says Hi to her P5 class who are following our progress via the ocean tracker and this blog back in Scotland.
