Bursaries and Project Donations

At the JST we want to give everyone the opportunity to sail with us, so regardless of your circumstances we will try our hardest to get you on board. The JST subsidises every berth so the full price you see in the brochure is already a reduced rate. However, we’re full of great ideas to make a tall ship adventure more accessible to you.

In order to make our voyages as affordable and accessible to everyone, we have funding available for those who may not be able to afford the advertised brochure price. Interested individuals, both able bodied and disabled from the age of 16 upwards, can apply for funding of up to 50% of the cost of their selected voyage. For those participating in our Leadership @ Sea Scheme you can apply for up to £300 towards the cost of your selected voyage. We are only able to award bursary funding once.

Connaught Trust

Grants of up to 90% of the cost of participating on voyages are available to members of the reserve forces and cadets of all three services that meet the qualifying criteria of the Trust.

For further details contact the JST office on 023 8044 9138 to discuss berth availability and reserve your place. Application forms can be downloaded from the website of the Trust www.connaught-trust.co.uk or are available from the office.

Help us help you, larger projects

If you would like to help us keep these voyages affordable and continue our life changing work this is one way you can help. At the moment there are three projects which you can donate towards:

  • Bursary and assisted funding - help keep our voyages affordable to all.
  • Operating the JST tall ships - help keep Lord Nelson and Tenacious at sea.
  • Dry dockings - a statutory requirement to keep our tall ships at sea
