  • Access to the ship

    • Access to the ship is via a gangway which is approximately 75cm in width.
    • The gangway has rope handrails available.
    • The gradient of the gangway varies according to the tide.
    • There is a deep step at either end of the gangway.
    • Portable ramps can be provided to overcome the steps.
    • Permanent crew always assist wheelchair users on to the ship.
    • The gangway gives access to the bridge deck.
    • There are specific times for embarking and disembarking.
  • The Bridge Deck
    • The bridge deck is the platform from where the ship is commanded.
    • The bridge deck has an adjustable chair, talking compass and a joystick which can be used as an easier alternative to the steering wheel.
    • The chair can also be moved laterally and there are Unwin clamps for wheelchairs users.
    • The chart room is also located on the bridge deck.
  • On Deck

    • There are tactile strips along the decks to aid people with visual impairments.
    • There is Braille signage in some areas of the ship.
    • There are also arrows on handrails to direct people.
    • There are pulley hoists and safety harnesses available so that wheelchair users can access the first platform on the masts without transferring.
    • Voyage crew must wear a safety harness at all times when on deck.
  • Level Changes

    • The steps are located leading to the weather deck from the bridge deck.
    • There is a standard and / or platform lift to access this service.

  • Lift (Accommodation Deck)
    • This lift overcomes a level change between the forward deck house and the accommodation deck.
    • The lift is a platform lift.
    • The dimensions of the lift are 0.75m x 1.2m (2ft 5in x 3ft 11in).
    • The clear door width is 80cm.
    • The lift has an automatic door.
    • There are not separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
    • The controls for the lift are within reach for a wheelchair user.

  • Level Change (Foc'sle Deck)
    • There are steps to access this area.
    • The steps are located between the main deck and foc’sle deck.
    • There are 12 steps to the area.

    • The handrails are on both sides.
    • There is a platform lift to access this service.
  • Lift (Foc'sle Deck)
    • This lift overcomes a level change between the main deck and the foc’sle deck.

    • The dimensions of the lift are 0.9m x 1.2m (2ft 11in x 3ft 11in).
    • The clear door width is 75cm.
    • There are separate entry and exit doors in the lift.

  • Accommodation
    • The voyage crew sleep in bunks on the accommodation deck.
    • Males sleep on one side of the deck and females on the other.
    • Wheelchair users have cabin bunks which are 67cm high.
    • There are 8 berths, 4 on each side.
    • Lee cloth bunk guards are available to prevent people falling from bunks when sleeping.
    • Some of the bunks are fitted with Unwin fastener strips in front of the bunks to secure wheelchairs.
    • Vibrating alarms are available on request.
    • Personal whistles are available to alert people if voyage crew require assistance.
    • There is Braille and tactile signage to identify different berths.
    • There are wall mounted handrails along the corridors.
  • Upper Mess
    • The upper mess is where main meals are eaten.
    • The upper mess has fixed tables but the end ones are height adjustable.
    • There are bench seats and unwin clamps for wheelchair users.
    • There are no chairs with armrests.
    • A professional cook and a cook’s assistant produce three cooked meals a day.
    • Specific dietary requirements can be catered for if detailed in the voyage booking form.
    • Plastic cups, plastic cutlery and drinking straws are available on request.
    • Assistance can be provided if necessary.
  • Lower Mess
    • The following information is for the bar.
    • Once inside, there is level access to the service.
    • All tables are permanently fixed.
    • Some chairs are permanently fixed.
    • No chairs have armrests.
    • The distance between the floor and the lowest table is 75cm (2ft 6in).
    • The distance between the floor and the highest table is 75cm (2ft 6in).
  • Accessible Toilets
    • There are accessible toilets within the ship.
    • The toilet is not for the sole use of disabled people.
    • The accessible toilet is located in the Upper Mess and¬†Forward Deck House and Accommodation Decks.
    • There is level access to the accessible toilet.
    • Some are accessible via a platform lift.
    • This is a unisex toilet.
  • Accessible Shower
    • Accessible shower facilities are available.
    • The showers are located in the accessible toilet on the accommodation deck.
    • The facilities available in the accessible shower are an adjustable shower head, handrails and a flip down seat.
    • The height of the seat is 50cm (1ft 8in).
