As more and more of us consider a staycation and look at holidaying in the UK, Captain Darren reminds us how lucky we are to be an Island Nation

We sometimes forget how lucky we are to be an Island Nation, and perhaps we are too quick to jump on a plane and head off to ‘somewhere more interesting’!

Our country is amazingly diverse in terms of landscape, history, and wildlife and none more so than on our wonderful coastline. 

There are so many wonders right here on our doorstep. From the Jurassic Coast to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, from the Irish sea to the North Sea, and all the harbours and anchorages in between. What a beautiful playground to have available without the need to fly anywhere! 

Some of the best wildlife in the world is found right here off our coast, and some of the best sailing too. 

As Island people, we have always been reliant on the sea, it’s in our blood regardless of whether we have been to sea or not. Who hasn’t listened to the iconic shipping bulletins broadcast on Radio 4 and wondered what was going on out there in sea areas Rockall, Malin and Hebrides amongst all the others?

So, the opportunity is here to immerse yourself in our wonderful coastline and indulge in a ‘staycation’ with a difference – by joining your shipmates onboard Tenacious during her 2021 home waters Summer programme.
