We are proud to announce our status as one of Cowes Week’s Official Charities for the 2022 edition of the Regatta.
One of the key highlights in the sailing calendar, the highly regarded Cowes Week celebrations will be hosting JST and Tenacious from 30th July – 5th August 2022.
Finding new lives to change
We’re really looking forward to introducing ourselves and Tenacious to new audiences, who will get the chance to see how our voyages really do change people’s lives. As a yachting mecca, Cowes Week attracts thousands of sailing enthusiasts and spectators each year, ranging from beginners to World Champions and Olympic Medallists.
Onboard Tenacious, everyone is seen and treated as equal and contributes to the best of their ability – and we’ve seen these people truly flourish and go on to build confidence in their lives. We’ve seen barriers break down, differences disappear, social bonds form and people start to appreciate the ability and potential in others. Beneficiaries leave our voyages with new skills and more aware of their own strengths and capabilities. They gain beliefs and attitudes that help them tackle the limitations in their life. They feel more free to explore their ability, potential and place in the world.
Tenacious: A fabulous spectacle!
We hope to get the chance to showcase everything the JST and Tenacious has on offer, and how anyone can enjoy the sport, regardless of experience or ability so that people can truly explore their potential.
Laurence Mead, Regatta Director at Cowes Week commented “Looking out from the Royal yacht Squadron platform on a Cowes Week race day we can see boats of all shapes and sizes enjoying the regatta. It’s wonderful that this year the Jubilee Sailing Trust will be joining us with their tall ship, SV Tenacious which, although they won’t be racing, will add to the fabulous spectacle on the water this year. Sailing is one of the great ways for people to learn responsibility and self-reliance and to learn to interact with others in a team and the Jubilee Sailing Trust has been helping people of all ages and abilities for the past 43 years to enjoy those benefits. We are very excited to have them join us and look forward to being able to see their ship Tenacious during the week.”
Come and join us
Tenacious will be in attendance for the duration of the regatta and the JST team will also have a presence on shore hosting a number of activities for visitors. We are also proud to be alongside the Scaramouche Sailing Trust who became an official charity partner in 2020, and raises funds to support the Greig City Academy’s extraordinary sailing programme, inspiring hundreds of students from an inner-city London school to transform their lives through sailing.
