On 23rd August, Lord Dannatt’s Round Britain Challenge will be sailing into town, as part of an extraordinary WW1 centenary memorial event.

The STS Lord Nelson tall ship will be embarking on 4 x 10 day voyages around the UK, crewed by cadets and military veterans sailing together.

When the ship reaches Cardiff, there will be an Open Ship between 10:00 and 12:00. You are invited to explore the ship, meet some of the crew and volunteers to find out more about this event.

At approximately 13:00, the current crew will take part in a special parade at the Sennodd, to mark the end of the third leg and the beginning of the final leg to London.

At the Sennodd, Lord Dannatt will be presenting the crew with one of four parts to a shield, which when complete at the end of the challenge will form a permanent WW1 memorial at the Tower of London.

It’s a special event and you’re welcome to be part of it!
