LN901 02/08/2016 – “There’s not much to see except sea,” said Nursie, which on our course can only be a jolly good thing.
A lumpy night and an early morning jaunt around a tanker the size of Cadiz did little to dampen high spirits during a truly happy happy hour when Captain Barbara was heard to say that she’d seen worse… High praise indeed.
The ship’s company’s many talents are gradually coming to light with Ann’s creative cleaning techniques, Maureen’s beautiful sketches and Ben’s way with a menu. The latter led to a lunch of local venison and pomegranate parfait (aka noodle salad) which was followed by FP watch taking the bridge. We’ve bonded nicely in 23o; our ace helms Sean, Nathan and the elusive “Monkey Boy” Oakes are steering a steady 300o and although we’re motoring, we hope to reach Cape St Vincent and the finish line of the 48-hr race at around 7pm this evening.
The sea is a mighty fine place to be.
