We’re in Sandown Bay at sunset (Wednesday evening) and have just anchored half a mile off the pier to enjoy sundowners after a slow but delightful sail round the eastern end of the Isle of Wight. Yesterday, we motored down Southampton water to anchor off St Helen’s Fort overnight. This morning, Captain Simon  explained how we could manoeuvre under sail alone and we got under way from the anchorage without the engines.  It needed a lot of rope pulling and teamwork to set the sails, to brace the yards and to tack the ship. A fun day was had by all.
