We are way behind with our blog! However, we have a good excuse, because no sooner than Nellie arrived in Aalborg we had to do the usual preparations of the ship to be on display. The big event for which we were stressing out was the crew parade through the streets of Aalborg onto the prize giving ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

There are dozens and dozens of ships of all sizes and perhaps a total crew muster just short of 3000, so you can imagine how extensive the procession was in the midst of hundreds of on-lookers all cheering us on our way. The parade gave everyone except the Russians a lovely excuse to dress up crazy style, dance and fool around in a highly undisciplined way. After the parade there was a grand crew party where everyone of course stayed holy sober.

On Monday realism dawned as the last Crew had to clear up the ship and leave in time for the new bunch of matelots to take over after the Captains briefing. Well, we’ve done quite a bit of training and this afternoon will leave port and join the parade of sail from whence we push on out of Danish waters to the lovely Fjord city of Rosendal.
