Joining day has been quite busy, as they usually are.

In the morning, maintenance jobs were finished off, the boats returned and we had a happy two hours, where the voyage crew who had joined early, as well as a few willing volunteers were impressively thorough in their cleaning duties. The permanent crew and watch leaders had their pre-voyage briefings.

After lunch, it was joining time where we met the new voyage crew, heard the captain’s plan for the voyage followed by a short briefing by ChEng Alan and Mate Steve. For some crew, work never stops; the bosun’s mates continued with maintenance tasks and of course our cook and cook’s assistant are working tirelessly, always preparing the next meal. We then spent time with our watches getting to know our stations on ship. In the late afternoon, the voyage crew were given shore leave, so old and new friends alike could slip away to catch up or learn more about each other.
We are all looking forward to our training tomorrow and a full day of sight-seeing on Saturday.

The current plan is to leave early on Sunday and arrive in Lunenburg before nightfall.
