Joined the ship moored among the super yachts in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua, where we stayed overnight. A warm and sunny start to our Carribean Christmas. Stores arrived throughout the day, introductions were made then we headed out to anchor at the mouth of the harbour overnight. Fishing lines were cast and so far, we have caught red snapper and a small tuna.

There was great excitement in the upper mess early this morning – the new toaster had arrived! Darren, the Medical Purser, spent some time gazing at it lovingly, admiring its shiny, sleek lines. The toast was good too.

We are now heading south, after sailing off the anchor and a crash course in ropes and sails, interrupted briefly by smoko and chocolate birthday cake for Watchleader Steph. An hour of happiness (cleaning the ship) awaits. We have the island of Montserrat on our starboard side and Guadaloupe ahead, all of the sails except Royals are set, we’re doing 4.5 knots, the sea is blue and it’s 28 degrees. Bliss.
