After a swift happy hour we were ready to pick up the anchor. We headed off with Tenacious ready to start the race around various waypoints plotted on the chart. We made a good start and within an hour we were already 1.5 miles ahead of Tenacious, by the afternoon we had increased our lead to 5.9 miles. Unfortunately for us we were just a little too far off the wind with our heading so had to tack the ship back in order for us to get the best line to the finish.
This gave Tenacious the advantage and unfortunately they sailed past us and we were never able to catch her up. However here on Nellie we weren’t too down about this it has simply given us more determination to beat Tenacious on the race back to Southampton.
