After a quiet night sailing along the French coast we reached St Malo in sunshine and blue skies, much appreciated after the weather we had endured previously. Around 0930 the pilot came aboard and we handed all the sails. We were the duty watch for entering the lock, aided by the nonchalant lock workers. Soon we were moored alongside, with great views of the old city walls. After Happy Hour, the photographs on the quay and the assisted climbs, with Paul, Clare and Patrick hoisted aloft in wheelchairs, we were free. Some of us took the opportunity to climb to the top of the mainmast. Then we explored the old city, choosing our restaurants for the evening. A good night of French food and drink was later enjoyed.
