My day sail on the Lord Nelson.

By Seb Trezise

I was lucky enough to be given a day on board Lord Nelson by the charity that I work for called Enable Me. This was kindly donated to Enable Me by Littlehampton Rotary Club. I was picked up along with the other 3 in my group at 7am for the journey down to Southampton docks.

Getting on board was smooth and seamless. Being a wheelchair user and having been on various ships and boats before and having to crawl on board. This was a doddle! Having all the safety briefings I was chosen to demonstrate the evacuation process from down below. Being winched up the stairs backwards is certainly an experience!! Currently sailing out of Southampton water, on way out to the Solent and beyond!!

A great day of rope pulling, setting the sails. Good food, a great time and great experience!! Thanks to all the crew for a great day!!
