“On one particular voyage around the Canary Islands it was time for assisted climbs. The final person to climb had spent the past week on board in his wheelchair dreaming of being aloft. His friends and family on board told me just to get him onto the side and that would be enough. But he was determined to get out his wheelchair and climb.
The whole crew stopped on deck to watch and cheer him on. At just under the platform, he had used up all his energy but was still determined. He asked me for some water so a bottle was sent up.
After a few glugs he looked at me with a massive grin and said “Let’s go”. Moments later we were on the platform with cheers from the deck. I then got the biggest hug ever and we sat and chilled on the platform”.
