LOCAL BUSINESSES UNITE TO OFFER EXTRAORDINARY SAILING OPPORTUNITIES

Two Southampton based maritime organisations have announced a unique collaboration this week, bringing together two different sides of the sailing world.

Oyster Yachts have embarked on a multi-year sponsorship of international charity, the Jubilee Sailing Trust. The announcement underscores Oyster’s commitment to maritime philanthropy and the Southampton community.

Located on the banks of the River Itchen, Oyster have become international market leaders for world class cruising yachts, having built to the highest specifications. Whilst on the opposite side of the river, the JST have become world-renowned for tall ship sailing adventures that are inclusive for people of all physical and sensory abilities.

Funds from this sponsorship will allow people from Southampton to sail with the JST. These voyages integrate people with disabilities and able-bodied, breaking down barriers and changing perceptions around disability.

It’s also a prime opportunity to jointly promote the benefits of a maritime career amongst the local community, whilst creating opportunities for individuals – especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds – to take a first step on the career ladder.
