Equivalent to our Dry Docking Costs

How much do we want to raise?

This is the estimated cost for taking Tenacious into a 'drying' dock, which includes draining the dock, shoreing her up securely and safely, and all the required connections and services required whilst she is 'dry', her hull inspection and paint, plus the reverse proceedure to flood the berth up and get her back to sea. Funds raised via the challenge will go to support our Dry Docking and Maintenance costs.

What are we doing?

In September 2023, a mixed-ability relay team will race the crew of S.V. Tenacious 185 miles from Great Yarmouth to London, raising funds for her upcoming dry-dock and maintenance period. Transport will be ‘by any (human-powered) wheels’ – this includes pedal assist e-bikes or similar for anyone that requires them to take part.

This is not just about the challenge, it is a testament to the spirit of inclusivity, community, and collaboration.

No matter your abilities, no matter your circumstances, there is a place for you in our team. #AccessibleForAll

So this is why we are saying we are #BringingOurMissionAshore

When is it?

Start:

Friday 8th September, Great Yarmouth, South Quay

Finish:

Tuesday 12th September, London, West India Docks

What are the funds for?

The event is raising much needed funds for the Dry Docking and planned maintenance period of our ship, S.V. Tenacious, in late autumn/winter 2023. The ship requires survey and essential underwater work periodically to stay certified to deliver our mission, and this where these funds will be directed.

If you want to sign up for the challenge, please click the button and fill in the form to register your details. You can join for the whole challenge, a day, or a segment of the route! Please let us know what type of bike you will be bringing, as this may affect the route choice on the day. As it is not long until the challenge starts, we strongly recommend any last minute riders have a relatively high level of comfortability with cycle rides equivalent to the distance you want to join for due to the reduced amount of time available for you to now train for the challenge.

Route Information

The information on each leg of the route is below. Some variation may occur, depending on the conditions at the time or the variety of wheeled equipment we have joining us on the day!

For the Komoot links for all 5 days click here!

Note: Our riders have been route testing the challenge and have made adjustments to fit a variety of wheeled equipment joining throughout. By far the two most accessible days are days 1 and 5. Some segments of days 3 and 4 are much more overgrown and/or narrower than described (or when they were originally made into cycle paths). This means they would be difficult for trike-style bikes to join for certain segments. In addition, the routes include unavoidable hills that are steeper than is safely recommended to attempt with a trike (particularly upon descent). As safety is paramount in all that we do, for these segments our support driver(s) will transport any trike riders and their bikes to the next segment of the route.

  • Day 1 - Gt Yarmouth to Halesworth
