A series of illnesses and amputations had left Ben in a wheelchair and blind. So it was with a mixture of excitement and trepidation that he embarked on his first voyage with us.
Immediately, Ben found a level of independence and inclusion he hadn’t experienced for a long time.
“Everything suddenly seemed to click. Gone were the negativity and the constant “I can’t do this” rattling around my head.”
Ben also made lifelong friends on the voyage, and they continue to meet up and offer each other support. And his new “I can do it” attitude has greatly improved his quality of life.
“I can’t explain what the trip meant to me,” he explains. “Not only did it give me the chance to do something I could never afford to do, but it gave my wife and son a much-needed respite from caring for me.”
With your support, we can help people like Ben thrive for years to come.
