“I never thought I’d be back on the water again, let alone be asked to be a Watch Leader and become so involved in this amazing charity. I owe them so much.”

Charlie is a watch leader, branch member and fundraiser. She has sailed with us over 20 times. Here she talks about why she supports our work.

The charity has had a massive, positive impact on my life, like it has for many others.

I used to be a canoe and kayak instructor, and dinghy sailor until my health deteriorated causing me to have to give up the job that I loved. Afterwards, I struggled a lot; until I found the JST.

I never thought I’d be back on the water again, let alone be asked to be a Watch Leader and become so involved in this amazing charity. I owe them so much. Which is why I took part in the 2020 At Home Winter Wonderwheels – to help raise much needed funds to keep the charity going through these difficult times. And ensure they can continue to challenge often misguided perceptions of disabled people, and provide life changing experiences to people for many years to come.
