That was an exciting first time up the rigging and out on the yards. It all started so well but a sudden squall rushing in from the SW meant we all got rather cold and wet very quickly! Still if we can do it in that then surely we can do it again…
With the weather keeping us in Ponta Delgada the only wildlife spotting Carol and I have been doing is keeping an eye on the birds moving around the harbour. The list is limited with the most numerous being Common Terns.
Other migrants have included small numbers of Whimbrel and a Gannet and a couple of the local Little Egrets have added to the variety.
The plan at the moment is to sail on Monday morning, so here’s hoping to seeing some cetaceans once we get out to sea.
