Day 5.

After days at sea with winds on the nose, so much so that on Wednesday we had sails up and were ‘overtaken’ by an Oil Rig!! we awoke on Thursday to perfect sailing winds but we had to be at the Harlingen Fairway buoy at 12.26hrs so we couldn’t take advantage of them, typical!!!

We entered the channel and joined the procession of ships making the 3 1/2 hour trip into the harbour. We were greeted by a big crowd and an Elvis tribute on the foredeck of one of the Tall Ships. Friday morning saw a glorious day. We did the assisted climbs, 4 wheelies and 7 climbing with assistance, a fantastic achievement. The voyage photo completed, shore leave was granted until the Crew parade at 4pm. We had a lot of under 18 VC and they led our contingent in full voice, ‘Ollie, Ollie Ollie, hoy hoy hoy’ was the cry! A good number of us attended the Crew Party which was followed by a spectacular firework display at 2330 hrs. Despite the lack of sailing it has been a great voyage because of the people on board. Happy Sailing.
