Last night saw the first games of the backgammon tournament, to which twenty-four of the crew have signed up. To set the ball rolling the mathematical mind of Andre was drawn up against our on board medic, all the games were heated and provided great entertainment for the spectator. Today started with a beautiful sunrise over Ensenada Hermosa with steam rising off the warming beach. We weighed anchor at 9.15 and initially motored until we found the wind and were able to sail for a few hours before it evaded us again and the engines had to be restarted. This afternoon has been calm and hot. The Aft Starboard watch have been manning the Bridge, keeping entertained by pods of dolphins which occasionally come to play around the boat. Tonight we plan to motor so that we arrive in to Golfito, the former banana export capital, by 10am. This will give the sun kissed crew of Tenacious time to get through immigration before Carnival madness commences. The crew have high hopes for a Costa Rican fiesta in the town, and a chance to get out their most colourful garments.
