You cannot imagine the heat here in Golfito, Golfo Dulce of Costa Rica! No one is complaining however, as our local agent Niko has come on board with all the usual officials and told us about all the best things to see over the next few days. At the moment of writing, we are at anchor waiting to berth alongside surrounded by jungle and palm trees waiting to hit the local ‘sodas’ tonight. Yesterday afternoon after a gentle breeze of several hours, the wind suddenly picked up to 30 knots, large waves were pounding the boat and we were plunged into great power under sail until the small hours. As dawn approached a morning chorus of Frigate birds blessed our decks [and some of the watch crew] from the Royals and a Tenacious pelican decided to become our figurehead on the bowsprit as we gently motored into the bay. Please sympathise with us as we embark upon our local explorations…composed by several of us.
