As we had to vacate our berth in Santa Cruz by 08:00 the crew had an early call at 06:30 to prepare the ship for leaving harbour. As the sun rose we began our voyage towards El Hierro. We had a late breakfast as we motored away from La Palma. The morning was taken up with Tony, the mate, giving us bracing training followed by sail setting. We are now sailing on a very pleasant sunny day with a moderate breeze, with a jib, all 5 square sails on the foremast, 4 square sails on the main mast and the mizzen staysail all set and making 3.7 knots towards La Gomera.

Later the plan is to tack and head towards our destination of El Hierro with an estimated arrival at 11:00 tomorrow morning.

Best wishes to all from Forward Starboard watch, Iain (W/L) Anne, Brian, Delia, Jude, Laurence and Daman.
