After eventful journeys from the UK and main land Europe all the voyage crew arrived on board, due to high winds at La Palma all flights had been redirected to Tenerife.
Mate Tony and Captain welcomed everyone, a quick safety brief was completed, personnel assigned to watches and bunks the voyage at last was about to start.
Day 2…A more concise safety brief followed by evacuation drills and the all-important smoko. Following lunch the voyage crew departed for a tour of the island under the guidance of Connie whose knowledge and experience was invaluable. The days volcanology experience was concluded following supper with a talk and presentation on the volcanic history of the Canaries by John who is a professor in Geology and one of the voyage crew.
Tomorrow day 3 will see the Tenacious leave La Palma for El Hierro and the voyage crews introduction to sailing.
