Our hitch-hiking Egrets have left us this morning, but we have had a Booby flying around and demonstrating his fishing skills. Every so often a school of flying fish go scooting above the waves. Fever struck the ship with a rash of tinsel, baubles, flashing lights and Christmas trees. Santa’s helpers were all in shorts and have their bare skin slathered with sun cream – which all makes for a very festive spirit. As the sun dipped towards the yardarm a stowaway was found hiding below. Happily this was an Emergency exercise and the stowaway was quickly found and returned to us. It’s an early night again for us on the aft port watch as we are on the 4am to 8am watch, but the stars are wonderful and what is better than to see dawn breaking over the blue seas.
