Well La Gomera was just amazing, lovely, beautiful, 4 seasons in one day etc. – don’t tell anyone though it’s Tenacious’ little secret. So last day of full sailing, off we went to La Palma – only 43 miles to the north east. Out of La Vuelta’s harbour wall it all got a wee bit choppy, then choppier and then even more choppier, and then even more choppier than that. Oh Buoy, what a day; like a day out at Alton Towers except without the queues and the fact that you couldn’t get off nemesis for 18 hours…
Anyways, we arrived without much injury at 23.59ish, just the odd undignified slide across the deck and soaking from the occasional rogue wave. At the same time, the Gomera Cat rocked in, carrying one of our voyagers, Debbie who decided to spend a few more hours on Gomera, care of the Spanish Health Service – all’s well with her, and Connie our volcanologist who escorted her. Well that’s about it, a day of R&R tomorrow, souvenir hunting, and writing those last minute postcards for our nearest and dearest (or those who just gave us permission to run away to sea for a few days).
