TNS 397
A building swell and waves were felt in the movement of the ship throughout the night. The middle and morning watches had handed all sails and we were running on engines. Approaching Valletta in the morning, the sight of many white topped waves and fling spray was spectacular. Passing through the piers into the harbour, the buildings and forts around the perimeter shielded us from the wind. This was just as well for the tricky manoeuvre onto the berth on the port side between two large luxury motor yachts which were moored stern onto the harbour wall.
An afternoon ashore was spent sightseeing followed by evening meals ~ some watches went ashore to sample Maltese cuisine.
