Day six dawned warm and sunny. T shirts and shorts for the braver amongst us. We’ve had near perfect downwind sailing since Valencia with strong North Easterly’s pushing us along at well over 6 knots. But for the last couple of the days the wind has been more fickle. This morning we put lots of sails up but spent most of the day drifting along pleasantly in the sunshine. To help pass the time Tom and Craig created “the pit of pain”; a devilish military exercise test involving sit ups and press ups to be completed in a specified time. All the cadets participated and were (quite) impressive but rather eclipsed by Ali’s mind blowing performance of 38 sit ups in two minutes. Jim (aged over 70) then went on to casually beat the next highest score achieved by someone over 50 years younger! He then rested by climbing to the top of the main mast….phew.
