The largest annual sailing event in the IT industry, takes place again in Cowes in September.
The original idea came from four senior people in the IT industry who got together and decided to combine their passion and their profession to raise meaningful amounts of money for charity.
Last year the event was contested by over 400 people, representing over 200 companies and again raised over £60,000 for its nominated charities which include the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
Entrants at the The Silicon Cup have been many and varied with the majority returning each year. Competing teams include; manufacturers, Channel Partners, IT departments and other related suppliers. The majority of the key industry players are represented albeit in a variety of guises. Logos from Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle are all to be seen adorning the yachts.
