TNS632 Greenock to Lerwick
Day 8
After motoring overnight, a little chillier and bouncier than previous night’s we sat down to a delicious breakfast of pancakes bacon and maple syrup served up by the galley team. After the morning meeting we set the squares on the main mast and foremast and the outer and inner jib.
Fi, the bosun, gave an excellent talk on sail setting for those who wanted to know more.
Mid-morning we crossed 60 degrees north, the furthest north some of the crew have been.
Currently Forward Port is on watch, sailing slowly keeping an eye out for dolphins, whales and ships.
Preparations are well on the way for our arrival in Lerwick, needles have been out to tidy up the flags for dressing overall, the fancy dress costumes have been unearthed and sea shanty/songs are under discussion.
ETA for Lerwick 9h30 on 26.07.2023 where lots of activities are organised including a ship’s parade and Tall Ship’s crew party!
